ABOUT ALPACA FARMS & BREEDERS
Ohio Leads the Way:
Among all the states that alpacas are raised in, Ohio leads the nation with the largest number of alpaca farms and the greatest number of alpacas. With nearly 12% of the alpacas raised in the USA being registered to Ohio alpaca owners, there is no reason not to visit an Ohio alpaca farm today. Contact one of the OABA farms members to schedule a farm visit. The breadth and quality of alpacas you will find will amaze you.
About OABA:
OABA was founded in the spring of 1997 as a cooperative based nonprofit organization. With a large concentration of farms based in Ohio, many needs were emerging that could be best met by a local organization. OABA is recognized as an affiliate of the national Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA). OABA members understand the value of breeding and selling Alpaca Registry Inc. (ARI) registered Alpacas. A pedigreed ARI registered alpaca is your assurance of the very highest quality and genetics available in the marketplace today.
Statement of Mission:
OABA was formed to combine the unique talents and efforts of all member farms in Ohio, regardless of size, allowing for more effective marketing, education and support, thereby facilitating success beyond those achievable as individuals. Join us today and begin to recognize the benefits for yourself.
Benefits:

Membership:
Almost 200 Ohio Alpaca farms are represented as active members of OABA. Members are asked to serve on committees, participate in a minimum of two meetings per year and pay an annual fee of $100 per farm to join. OABA is a recognized affiliate of the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA), the official national Alpaca association.
NOTE: As of January 1, 2003, OABA has relaxed enforcement of its mandatory participation rules. Members are requested to actively participate in committees and attend meetings, but they are not required.
