Thank You For A Successful 2008 AlpacaFest!
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the participants, vendors and attendees for another successful AlpacaFest event. With over 80 individuals who give their valuable time and efforts as volunteers, this show remains one of the most elite alpaca shows in our industry. We would like to thank each and every one of you who have participated in making this show what it is for 11 years. We hope you enjoyed the show this year. All suggestions and comments are welcomed. Please direct your feedback to any Board member or show management.”

NEW THIS YEAR — Market Consignment shop
A store was set up during the OABA AlpacaFest on November 8-9, 2008 to help sell YOUR alpaca goods. In order to participate, the following guidelines were followed:
- You were required to be a member of OABA to participate in the store
- You were required to participate in the OABA Alpacafest as an exhibitor or volunteer
- You were required to sign up to volunteer for at least two 1 hour shifts to help run the store. Store hours were 10am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-3pm on Sunday.
- All items consigned to the store were alpaca related
- All items consigned to the store were made by you, your family, or your alpacas. NO COMMERCIALLY PURCHASED ITEMS was ACCEPTED.
- The completed inventory list was sent NO LATER THAN Friday, October 24, 2008.
- All items were sent to the store by 8pm on Friday, November 7, 2008.
How it worked:
Participants determined what items that they wanted to consign to the store, and completed the Consignor Registration Form. A description and quantities of the items was included.
Inventory codes: We tracked your items by inventory codes. Inventory codes begin with your ARI herd code, then add 001, 002, 003 and so on. For example, if I consign 3 scarves, the codes for those scarves are HE422001, HE422002, HE422003.
Tagging: Participants WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR TAGGING ALL OF THEIR ITEMS. Tags were to be a 2 part tag, either purchased (any office supply store has these) or made. A tagging gun was available at the store on Friday when particpants checked their items in.
Participants had the option to use business cards, perforated labels, or anything with 2 pieces. Their code for the item had to be on each part of the tag.
Income: All monies were collected and counted by the OABA Treasurer, Bob Danielson. Bob then distributed the participants' profit, minus a 15% consignment fee, a few weeks after Alpacafest ended. All consignment fees have gone toward rent of tables and chairs, advertising and expenses. Our hope is that we were able to allocate some of those fees to support the ICI.
Completed forms were sent to:
